What is the Professional Systems Network?

Professional Systems Network, Inc. (PSNI) is an organization of professional audio and visual system integrators who design, develop and install audio and visual communications systems in facilities such as boardrooms, conference rooms, lecture halls, broadcast facilities, and training rooms.

PSNI was formed in 1986 by a group of independent communications systems dealers that affiliated to provide a nationwide network of the highest quality professionalism in the industry. There are twenty affiliates that belong to PSNI. Each affiliate offers consultation, engineering, installation and technical services to deliver integrated equipment packages. All affiliates are reviewed annually and are governed by a Service Mark License Agreement and bylaws requiring adherence to the highest standards of professional competence. In addition, each affiliate subscribes to the PSNI Dealer Code of Ethics and Customer Bill of Rights listed below.

As a group PSNI has 55 affiliate offices, and more than 900 employees, including 312 sales people, and 270 technical people. Not only does PSNI provide the largest number of technical and professionals sales personnel, but the widest variety and state of the art equipment from over 500 manufacturers.

Each PSNI member is committed to providing quality service and expertise.

BILL OF RIGHTS

A customer has a right to:

  1. Expect objective appraisals of his/her audio and visual communication needs.

  2. Receive advice from sales people who have experience and training in professional audio and visual communications applications.

  3. Expect new sales people to have been briefed on an established customer's audio and visual communication needs before the sales call.

  4. Be given realistic delivery times for orders and to be notified when deliveries may be delayed.

  5. Know that equipment sold as new was not used for demos without the customer's prior approval.

  6. Be able to return equipment for a full refund if the equipment recommended by the dealer's sales staff fails to meet the customer's written specification.

  7. Order equipment from more than one vendor without losing sales/service support from other dealers in the area.

  8. Be able to purchase on-site training after the sale.

  9. Have equipment serviced in a timely fashion, regardless of whether the equipment's service is needed during or after the warranty period.

  10. Know when possible if manufacturers are experiencing equipment or material problems which may affect the customer's production or installation schedule.

DEALER CODE OF ETHICS

  1. I will respect the confidentiality of my client's requests and purchases.

  2. I will respect the rights of other dealers to compete for business in my marketing area.

  3. I will not publicly criticize a customer's choice of equipment or systems purchased from other dealers.

  4. I will support the activities of regional professional organizations that are active in the audio and visual communications industry.

  5. I agree to support Professional Systems Network, Inc. and abide by the guidelines in the Service Mark License Agreement for my marketing area.

  6. I will cooperate with other audio and visual communications dealers to increase the awareness among customers that working with full service professional audio and visual communications dealers strengthens the audio and visual communications industry and ensures good customer service after the sale.

  7. I agree that customers have rights as expressed in Professional Systems Network, Inc.'s, "Customer Bill of Rights".

SYSTEMS
As integrators the affiliates research, design and install teleproduction, broadcast or audio/visual systems suited to the customer's needs.

ENGINEERING
Affiliates provide technical expertise at every stage, from preliminary engineering to design through execution and post sales support. The customer's system will be totally cabled, connected, equipment rack-mounted, documented and beta tested prior to delivery.

SALES
All affiliates' sales staff are experienced professionals. They are continually being educated in both current and future technologies so that they can provide system solutions to customer's needs.

INSTALLATION
Affiliates' service and installation are factory trained and certified in system and network installations. They test all systems before leaving a site and can train customers on how to use their new system.

SERVICE
Affiliates have service technicians who go on-site to solve equipment problems. They offer customers training before and after installation. This training includes instruction on how to use and maintain their systems. Affiliates also offer maintenance agreements which cover equipment purchased once the warranty period is over.

SUPPORT
Affiliates' knowledgeable systems support staff work with hardware and software, and help clients with systems operations questions.

BROADCAST EQUIPMENT RENTALS
The affiliates maintain a network of broadcast rental equipment and may have a location near you. Each rental office is staffed with experienced professionals who can help you select the best equipment for your needs. In many cases, staff can also provide on-site set up and instruction.

REFERENCE CATALOG
PSNI publishes an annual Reference Catalog that is customized by the affiliates and distributed to their customers. The 1998-1999 Reference Catalog contains products from 212 manufacturers. The 536 page Reference Catalog has a selection of technical articles called the Technology Forum followed by an alphabetical listing of over 200 manufacturer's products. A sample of article topics in the Technology Forum include: DVCPRO, DVCAM, Betacam SX, MPEG video compression, fibre channel, computer video interfacing, camera filters, and digital systems. The catalog contains a variety of product information on desktop video editing, projection, computers, presentation, graphics, interfacing, desktop video, electronic imaging, control systems and project equipment. USED EQUIPMENT
Many PSNI affiliates sell demo and rental equipment because of a need to reduce current inventory.
