Industrial Video Assists in Production Needs for a Leading Medical Device Company

Ethicon Endo-Surgery Inc., a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, recently turned to Industrial Video to facilitate the integration of a new high definition video post-production system. Ethicon Endo-Surgery, a leading developer of innovative surgical products, had a need for a customized non-linear editing system to produce programs for training, internal communications, and marketing development. The facility in metro Cincinnati, Ohio uses the system for content aimed at educating surgeons, nurses and other health care professionals to learn more about minimally invasive surgery.

Centered around a new Avid Nitris DX non-linear edit system, the integration featured a 12-Core Hewlett-Packard Z800 Professional Workstation, 30” screen displays, NVIDIA FX4800 GPU and 4TB’s of high-speed RAID storage from Sonnet Technology. Additionally the system features an AJA Ki Pro-Mini which provides efficient migration of the file-based media from Ethicon Endo-Surgery’s production camcorders. The system was packaged in a custom edit console and equipment racks to allow for optimal use by the media specialists.

Currently, Industrial Video is engaged in consultative support of 3D image processing and recording technologies for other Ethicon Endo-Surgery departments. Industrial Video’s consultative approach on Ethicon’s non-linear editing system as well as 3D image systems are representative of Industrial Video’s ability to bring the latest industry technologies to its clients.
